AlerT Active Shooter Training for Schools:
Best Practice Active Shooter Response Training for K-12
FEMA compartmentalizes Preparedness into five specific missions:
Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response and Recovery.
SafePlans’ AlerT active shooter training program is the only system that provides a holistic approach to the active shooter/violent intruder threat, by addressing each of the five missions listed above.
AlerT also helps to establish and coplies with the standards of care for K-12 school active shooter training as outlined in the U.S. Department of Education’s Guide for Developing High Quality School Emergency Operations Plans.
Threat Assessment – A Key Ingredient of Effective Active Shooter Training
Threat assessment is the process of examining potentially violent behavior with the goal of preventing active shooter-type incidents.
The focus of a threat assessment is not if a person makes a threat, but if they pose a threat. Threat assessment team training and resources help to ensure warning signs are not ignored and proactive strategies are enacted.
This training in threat identification, threat assessment and case management is based on United Stated Secret Service and FBI resources.
SAFE Reports is an anonymous reporting tool where students, school staff and community members are empowered to anonymously (if they chose) report suspicious activity, behavior or statements that could lead to the harm of individual or groups of students.
With ERIP’s SAFE Reports, appropriate school staff member(s) are immediately notified, including first responders via text message, email and an ERIP app push notification if an active threat is reported.
The SAFE case management system provides collaboration and tracking with alerts to make sure no report goes unresolved.
